Will I need a panel upgrade?
Most homes don’t. We check your panel capacity during the free photo assessment and only recommend an upgrade if your load calculation requires it.
Where do I find my 12-month peak demand? Is it on my bill?
No — bills show kWh, not peak demand. Log into your utility account and send us a screenshot or CSV.
Toronto Hydro (Toronto, Etobicoke, North York):
• Log in at torontohydro.com
• Open My usage
• Click “Want to see your peak demand?”
• Screenshot the 12-month peak and send it to us
• If that tool isn’t there: My usage → Hourly usage → Download last 12 months CSV → we use the highest hourly value.
Alectra (Mississauga):
• Log in to My Alectra
• Usage → Usage Overview → Hourly
• Find the highest hour in the last 12 months, or download the CSV and send it
Stuck? You must be the account holder. New move-in — send whatever months you have. Still blocked — call the number on your bill and ask for your 12-month peak demand / highest hourly interval.
Why shouldn’t I just hire the cheapest installer?
Because the cheapest install usually becomes the most expensive one. Here’s what rock-bottom quotes tend to leave out:
- No ESA permit or inspection — unpermitted electrical work can void your home insurance, and problems surface when you file a claim, not before.
- No load calculation — adding a 40-amp charger to a panel that’s already near capacity without doing the math means tripped breakers at best.
- Undersized wire, cheap breakers — the corners they cut are the ones hidden inside your walls.
- Nobody to call back — the lowest bidders are often gone within a year or two, and their warranty goes with them.

Why do most installs cost more than $1,199?
$1,199 covers simple installs — panel right beside your parking spot with a short cable run. Most GTA homes need a longer run, have difficult drilling, wire fishing, and/or additional work on the panel to make safe space for the new circuit breaker and wiring. Either way, your price is confirmed before you book, so there are no surprises.
Do you handle the ESA permit?
Every install includes the ESA permit and inspection. We book it, we meet the inspector, you get the certificate.
Can you install in my condo parking stall?
Often yes. Condo installs need building approval first — send us your building’s requirements and we’ll map out the path.
Are there Ontario rebates for EV chargers?
Programs change often. Ask us during your quote and we’ll point you to anything currently available.
