Before you book
Quick answers to the questions we hear most.
My bungalow still has a fuse box. Can I still get a charger?
Often, yes. Plenty of Etobicoke’s post-war bungalows still run on fuses or early 100-amp breaker panels, and a charger does not automatically mean a service upgrade. We run a load calculation from your panel photos and your Toronto Hydro peak demand: if the house has room, the charger goes in at a rate the service can carry. If it genuinely does not, we will show you the numbers and quote the upgrade separately — you decide with the math in front of you.
Where do I find my 12-month peak demand? Is it on my bill?
No — bills show kWh, not peak demand. Log into your utility account and send us a screenshot or CSV.
Toronto Hydro (Toronto, Etobicoke, North York):
- Log in at torontohydro.com
- Open My usage
- Click “Want to see your peak demand?”
- Screenshot the 12-month peak and send it to us
- If that tool isn’t there: My usage → Hourly usage → Download last 12 months CSV → we use the highest hourly value
Alectra (Mississauga):
- Log in to My Alectra
- Usage → Usage Overview → Hourly
- Find the highest hour in the last 12 months, or download the CSV and send it
Stuck? You must be the account holder. New move-in — send whatever months you have. Still blocked — call the number on your bill and ask for your 12-month peak demand / highest hourly interval.
Why do most installs cost more than the starting price?
The starting price covers simple installs — panel right beside your parking spot with a short cable run. Most GTA homes need a longer run, have difficult drilling, wire fishing, and/or additional work on the panel to make safe space for the new circuit breaker and wiring. Either way, your price is confirmed before you book, so there are no surprises.
Do you handle the ESA permit?
Every install includes the ESA permit and inspection. We book it, we meet the inspector, you get the certificate.
Can you install in my condo parking stall?
Often yes. Condo installs need building approval first — send us your building’s requirements and we’ll map out the path.
Our garage is detached, at the back of the lot. What does that run involve?
That is the classic Etobicoke layout, and it is very doable. The cable travels the side of the house and down the driveway side — surface-mounted in conduit where the path allows, or TECK cable trenched below grade where it does not. The charger mounts on the garage wall you actually park against, inside or out. The run length is the main cost driver, which is exactly why we quote it from your photos of the full path before you book.
